By: paperxpencil Creative Design Lab During segregation, Black Americans created thriving coastal havens, many of which were later lost to gentrification and neglect. Now, brands like Black Girl Beach Day, Ebony Beach Club, and paperxpencil [PXP] are leading a movement to revitalize these spaces and position them as vibrant alternatives to traditional spring break hotspots. A New Spring Break Experience Rather than overcrowded, high-cost party scenes, travelers can embrace historic Black beaches such as: American Beach, FL – A historic Black resort town founded in 1935. Atlantic Beach, SC – Known as the "Black Pearl," rich in culture and history. Chicken Bone Beach, NJ – A vibrant Black beach community in Atlantic City, once a safe haven for Black vacationers during segregation. Sag Harbor, NY – A historic Black enclave blending coastal beauty and heritage. Bruce's Beach, CA – Once a thriving Black-owned resort before being unjustly seized, now a symbol of resilience and restoration efforts. Promoting these destinations supports Black-owned businesses, preserves cultural history, and creates a more inclusive travel experience.
