One of his major responsibilities involves managing CDBG-DR (Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery) funding from Lee County, which supports two of HACFM's affordable housing projects: Phase II of Southward Village and Lafayette Square. He will also support other departments, including inspecting units and staying up to date on code violations, further ensuring compliance and safety of housing initiatives. Prior to this position, Cortes served as a superintendent for a residential builder, managing scheduling and oversight of trades for both custom and production homes. He also has a background in information technology. Having grown up in Lee County, working at HACFM felt like a calling to contribute to his community in a more meaningful way. With a passion for helping people, Cortes hopes to inspire young individuals to pursue careers in construction. He feels that his skills and his desire to uplift others merge to foster a spirit of community engagement that supports the well-being of the neighborhoods he serves.
