HENDERSON, Nev. - April 21, 2025 - PRLog -- Important DHL Shipping Update for Nigerian Exporters to the U.S.

As of April 21, 2025, DHL has announced new shipping requirements due to updated U.S. customs regulations. All shipments from Nigeria (and other countries) with a customs value above $800 are now subject to formal customs clearance. Previously, the threshold was $2,500.

Here's what Nigerian exporters must know:
  • The $800 limit now applies globally—not just shipments from Nigeria or other major exporters.
  • All goods exceeding this value will no longer qualify for simplified clearance processing.
  • You are now required to provide proof of origin, along with the U.S. receiver's Tax Identification Number (SSN or EIN) before shipping.
  • Expect multi-day customs delays and longer transit times due to increased scrutiny and documentation requirements.
  • Non-compliance may result in returned shipments, penalties, or seizure.

This update is already in effect. If you're exporting goods from Nigeria to the U.S., it's critical to plan ahead, communicate with your buyers, and speak with your DHL rep or agent to ensure smooth delivery.
