March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Samir Anjelly, Mechanical Engineer for VJ Technologies, has been named the recipient of the 2011 011 Long Island Tech Hall of Fame Innovation In Industry Award.
The objective is to recognize, honor and preserve the contributions, accomplishments, of current leaders in science or technology who have had, or are having, an impact on Long Island. Samir, or Sam, has designed a revolutionary radiographic inspection device which ‘crawls’ along open external segments of pipeline and acquires a 360° image of the pipe section. All of this is done without the high expense of insulation removal which is required for all other types of external inspection.
The Pipe Inspection Radiographic Crawler is capable of crawling between vertical support members and stopping every foot to conduct a complete 360° inspection of the pipe section. The system produces a high contrast image capable of identifying internal corrosion, pipe damage, and external corrosion under insulation - at an astonishing rate of nearly one foot per minute and VJ Technologies proprietary image algorithms provide for increased image quality. The crawler has already performed outstandingly on Alaska’s North Slope in 2010 and currently in the deserts of Oman. See more details at www.vjt.com
