July 27, 2012 - PRLog -- The laser entertainment industry is buzzing with excitement, as preparations have begun for the 2012 ILDA Conference running from November 4-7 in San Antonio, Texas. This is the 26th anniversary of the ILDA conference and the first time since 2004 that the event is being hosted on land in the United States. (Conferences in 2008 and 2010 were on Miami-based cruise ships.)

Tim Walsh, ILDA’s President 2007-2011 and owner of Laser Spectacles Inc., will be hosting this year’s event at the historic St. Antony’s Riverwalk Wyndham hotel in the heart of San Antonio. Tim has worked closely with the ILDA Board of Directors, to arrange for an action-packed conference filled with fun and informative events.

The conference will start on Sunday November 4 with the first-ever ILDA Golf Tournament. San Antonio is renowned for its lush golf courses, and this is sure to be an exciting way to start the event. In addition, Greg Makhov will be conducting ILDA’s Laser Safety Officer course, which is open to any person responsible for laser safety at light shows. Sunday night features the ILDA Welcome Cocktail Reception and Buffet dinner.

On Monday November 5, the conference proper starts with the ILDA Advanced Technology Workshop and General Business Meeting. Then, ILDA will have the first ever “Projector Shootout” where participants can compare laser projectors and laser show equipment. Following this is the Artistic Seminar, featuring the most unique laser shows of the year. In the evening is the informal ILDA Lase-Off, where some of the best laser shows from ILDA Conference attendees are played for everyone to enjoy. To end the night, ILDA will have the 2012 Laser Jockey Performance and Judging, where participants perform live to music, and those in attendance vote for their favorite performance.

On November 6, the day begins with the second half of ILDA Business Meetings, covering a variety of business topics relating to the laser industry. In addition, ILDA conducts its annual election for the new ILDA President and Board members. Following this, there is a variety of seminars and workshops available for participants to attend, including the annual Pangolin User Group (PUG) meeting.

In the evening, attendees gather at the gala 2012 ILDA Awards Banquet and Presentation. In 2012, 150 entries were received from around the world. The winners will be announced in public for the first time at the Awards Banquet. Attendees can see videos and laser performances of the winners. Also, the prestigious ILDA Career Achievement Award will be announced. This honors an individual whose career has had a profound impact on the laser entertainment industry as a whole.

The conference concludes on Wednesday November 7, with the ILDA Cultural and Networking Tour. This is a great way for ILDA members to enjoy the beautiful city of San Antonio together, and to build strong networking relationships, to further the strong business ties ILDA members have developed with one another. Signup for the conference has already begun.

About ILDA

Founded in 1986, ILDA is the worldwide non-profit trade association dedicated to advancing the use of laser displays in art, entertainment and education. It was founded in August 1986.
While increasing public awareness of laser light shows, the ILDA is also an association that provides a base for laser display companies. ILDA does not perform laser light shows itself, but its members primarily consist of laser light show hosts or companies that sell equipment and services. Members of the company work with each other, not as competitors, but as colleagues with whom they collaborate. Being associated with ILDA, members can have professional backing that will supply information on new technologies regarding safety issues and improved display performance.
