J.A. Geiger Studio Hosts Three for Saint Paul Art Crawl April 26-28

Brenda Brousseau, Tracie Thompson, and Christy Johnson join Geiger for bi-annual event.

MINNEAPOLIS - April 13, 2013 - PRLog -- ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA — Stained glass artist Josephine A. Geiger welcomes beadwork jewelry artist Brenda Brousseau, painter and collage artist Tracie Thompson, and mixed-media artist and illustrator Christy Johnson to her studio for the spring Saint Paul Art Crawl, which takes place April 26-28 on the East Side of St. Paul, Minnesota.
The artists at J.A. Geiger Studio ask visitors to "crawl off the map" to see their work, as the space is located on the city's East Side rather than in Lowertown, the neighborhood where most of the open studios can be found. They are making sure it will be worth the short trip to visit their talented group. Both Geiger and Brousseau have each won two Saint Paul Art Crawl Media Awards, and all four will be showing new, never-seen-before pieces.
"This spring, I'm focused on creating a new series of work featuring water scenes, such as rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, waterfalls, and waves," says Geiger (http://jageigerstudio.com). "The inspiration comes from a series of abstract artwork. Most of these new pieces are going to be on the smaller side and really highlight the glass."
Brousseau's (http://www.lunacbede.com) new jewelry will also give a nod toward water and nature.
"The pieces incorporate driftwood and other found objects from Lake Superior," she says. "This new work is beaded with a freeform peyote stitch that undulates with movement around the driftwood."
Johnson (http://www.redshoes26design.com) is showcasing her entire collection of State Icon illustrations, which has grown to include landmarks from Minnesota, Alabama, Florida, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Texas, and New York. She'll also show her mixed-media shadowbox collages, many of which have never been seen before.
Thompson (http://www.traciethompson.com) is set to do her on-the-spot animal sketches in the studio, an activity that's been very popular at past Art Crawls at Geiger's studio.
There's plenty of time during the three-day event to visit the many studios participating in the Crawl, including Geiger's spot on the East Side.
