San Antonio IP Firm Secures Revolutionary Phase Change Material Patent

SAN ANTONIO - July 19, 2019 - PRLog -- In recent years, phase change material blankets have been proposed as a replacement or supplement to conventional attic and other insulation.  Now, a new phase change material system has been patented in which the unique placement of such blankets at strategic attic locations results in a completely passive, weather-like ecosystem, trapping daytime heat and rapidly venting it at night for blanket recharge.

In a new development, the San Antonio IP Firm of the Law Office of William F. Ryann has obtained a patent for Alderman Research, Ltd. in the emerging high technology field of temperature regulating phase change materials (PCM).  The concept of utilizing phase change materials as a replacement or enhancement to conventional insulation systems may eventually revolutionize indoor temperature regulation.

This is particularly true in the case of warehouses, large scale server facilities or even the consumer mini-warehouse market.  These are situations where precision control over temperature regulation is not a primary driver.  Rather, an acceptable temperature range may be the focus.

The specific circumstance of climate controlled mini-warehouse units in the southern United States, conventionally involves electric powered cooling of the unit when it reaches a predetermined temperature in excess of about 85°F.  This environment generally doesn't require any heating to keep the unit above a predetermined temperature of about 65°F.  Regardless, with Alderman Research technology, the use of the right PCM alone may entirely eliminate the need to ever apply electric powered cooling to such a unit.  Even in South Texas summers, the right PCM in combination with the 24 hour diurnal cycle of the environment may be sufficient to maintain mini-warehouse temperatures below 85°F, regardless of outside day temperatures.  Furthermore, with the San Antonio IP Firm of the Law Office of William F. Ryann, now procuring the Alderman U.S. Patent 10,179,995 for a Reflective Temperature Modulating Blanket, a completely passive, non-powered, PCM weather-like ecosystem may be incorporated into such structures substantially guaranteeing the elimination of the need for powered cooling of such units.  Additionally, extending this technology to habitable dwellings may revolutionize cooling and energy consumption on a global scale.
