Follow on Google News | Alleging Elder Abuse, Garcia & Artigliere Files Lawsuit Against The Cove at La JollaGarcia & Artigliere are representing the family of a man who allegedly suffered serious injuries and elder abuse during his time at The Cove at La Jolla, a 24-hour skilled nursing facility.
By: Garcia & Artigliere The lawsuit – which was filed with the Superior Court of the State of California in Orange County –alleges that their client suffered serious and preventable injuries during his time at The Cove at La Jolla. When he was admitted to the facility in December 2019, the injury victim was a paraplegic who had recently undergone surgeries for chronic back pain, making him entirely dependent on facility staff for his activities of daily living (ADLs.) As a dependent adult, the victim was owed a high duty of care from The Cove at La Jolla. Despite this duty, the staff routinely failed to keep him clean, dry, and rotated to prevent pressure sores, which are defined as a "never event" by the medical community. As a result of this neglect, the victim developed a life-threatening Stage IV pressure ulcer on his coccyx which tunneled all the way through to the bone. At this time, the family of the victim is seeking maximum compensation to account for their loved one's pain and suffering, as well as his continuing medical expenses. If anyone has additional information about the substandard conditions at The Cove at La Jolla, Garcia & Artigliere invites them to come forward.
