Garcia & Artigliere Files Elder Abuse Lawsuit Against St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital

LONG BEACH, Calif. - June 5, 2020 - PRLog -- The award-winning lawyers at Garcia & Artigliere, a national elder abuse law firm with offices nationwide, have recently filed a lawsuit against St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, California. The lawsuit alleges that their client endured serious injuries during his stay due to a preventable fall.

When admitted to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital in September 2019 with a 102-degree fever, the injury victim was suffering from anemia, over the age of 65, and had a recent history of falling that should have been documented by St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital. Because of this medical history, the staff had a high duty of care to watch over the injury victim and ensure that he was kept from falling.

Despite this duty, the injury victim fell in the hospital and sustained multiple fractures to his pelvis and elbows. During his recovery for these fractures, he then developed a dangerous Stage II pressure sore on his coccyx. Pressure sores are defined as a "never event" by the medical community, as these injuries are easily avoidable with sufficient medical care.
