The Illinois Hunger Coalition Announces Paul Simon Public Service Award Recipients

Chicago - Illinois Hunger Coalition announced that they will be presenting the Paul Simon Public Service Award to Representative Nikki Budzinski (US Congress - Illinois 13th), Representative Jonathan Jackson (US Congress - Illinois 1st), Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi (US Congress - Illinois 8th), Dr. Jack Raba, State Senator Mike Simmons (Illinois State Senate, District 7) and State Senator Karina Villa (Illinois State Senate, District 25) at the 18th Annual Award Dinner on October 5. 2023.

Diane Doherty, Executive Director of the Illinois Hunger Coalition said, "On the 35th Anniversary of the founding of the Illinois Hunger Coalition and the 18th Annual Paul Simon Public Service Award, we fondly remember Senator Simon's example and his words, which challenge us to search harder for ways to eliminate hunger and poverty in this country. We remember him for his lifelong focus on social justice especially for hungry and low-income individuals who are often ignored. Senator Simon was committed to the Illinois Hunger Coalition and our effort to honor public servants like him. This year's honorees follow in his footsteps."

Sheila Simon, State Senator Mattie Hunter and State Senator Dave Koehler will head up the Honorary Committee for the evening.

The 18th Annual Paul Simon Public Service Award Dinner to benefit the Illinois Hunger Coalition will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the St. Ignatius College Preparatory School, 1076 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL 60608.
