'Silent Night In Algona' Producers Develop New Iowa Film

LANSING, Mich. - March 4, 2024 - PRLog -- Collective Development Inc. (CDI) won Best Picture at the Iowa Motion Picture Association awards in 2023 with the true event WW2 film SILENT NIGHT IN ALGONA. A historical fiction piece depicting life in Algona, Iowa the site of a German PW camp. The film also won Best Screenplay and Best Picture at the Red Letter Awards. The movie successfully honors history with a character study showcasing life both in the town and in the camp. The film ran 9 months in various Midwest theaters before being released nationally by Twin Engines Global. Currently you can watch it on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and VUDU. The DVD's can be purchased from Amazon and from various platforms like Walmart, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.

With the success of this CDI film the Donald Tietz Charitable Foundation approached screenwriter and CEO DJ Perry about writing the script depicting the Spirit Lake Massacre. After extensive research he agreed, and the result is a balanced and truthful story that also has the trademark CDI lessons woven into it.

"The story is both beautiful and brutal and gives a voice to both sides of the conflict. While Silent Night in Algona was Algona's story, this is Iowa's story."      – DJ Perry, screenwriter

The size, scope and complexities of this film and story is greater than their previous. It will also have the added challenges that exist when bringing the 1800's to the screen. CDI/Perry has done this with their 2000 Civil War film WICKED SPRING and their 2018 WILD FAITH. CDI boasts an amazing producer/actor team led by producers Anthony Hornus, Melissa Anschutz and Shane Hagedorn. The team felt they needed someone from Iowa to assist in funding and pre-production duties. They found that in Jim Brockhohn.  A Chiropractor from Forest City, Iowa he's worked with the Profession Rodeo Cowboy Association for 10 years, and as a team doctor for the U.S. Olympic team since 1996. But Jim is also an actor/producer who played 'Grandpa Joe' in Silent Night in Algona. He's done over 100 projects, including Movies, T.V. Shows, and Commercials.  Jim currently serves as the President of the IOWA MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION. He joined the IMPA board in 2000. He's also on the board of the IOWA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL in Mason City. All these accomplishments made him an ideal candidate to join the Spirit Lake Massacre development team. The team will be approaching individuals and organizations about getting behind the film financially either as investors or as product partners/ sponsors. The previous WW2 film had Iowa State Bank, Hormel/Spam, Smithfield Foods and Hershey amongst their supporters.  Organizations or individuals wishing more information can contact Jim Brockhohn at fcsports@wctatel.net .
