Harford County Maryland native to share poetry and social justice journey during two events celebrating Harriet Tubman and National Poetry Month

GREENVILLE, S.C. - March 26, 2024 - PRLog -- Harford County, Maryland native Melissa Whiteford St. Clair poet and social justice advocate, will be in Cambridge, Maryland for two events honoring Harriet Tubman during April, National Poetry Month.

Walk with Melissa Whiteford St. Clair and host Linda Harris Cole, Director of Events and Programming at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center (HTMEC) on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon along the UGGR through the Blackwater Refuge. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. * update: Meet at 9:00 am at the parking area in front of Blackwater Refuge - 2431 Key Wallace Drive.We'll tour the refuge, have lunch (bring a bag lunch) enjoy conversation, readings and poetry. Join Melissa Whiteford St. Clair and host Linda Harris Cole, Director of Events and Programming at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center, 424 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm for a poetry reading with poems dedicated to Harriet Tubman and discussion as Whiteford St. Clair shares her journey for social justice.

Saturday's talk will bring readers into the heart of the poet's study of racism and social justice journey electrified by Harriet Tubman's heroic flight to freedom.

Founder of White Girl Advocacy, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair found herself in turmoil by the rise of social injustice in the U.S. Poetry became a processing mechanism on her journey for social justice. Her first book of poetry Home Work A Collection of Poems Sparked by One White Woman's Journey on the Matter of Race was released on Harriet Tubman Day 2021. Her second book of poetry, Heart Work A Heart-Centered Collection of Poems was released on Valentine's Day 2023.
