Mei Xu Receives Entrepreneurial Leadership Award from Asian Women In Business Organization

Sept. 19, 2007 - PRLog -- Rockville, MD – Mei Xu, President and owner of Pacific Trade International, a leading global home fragrance and home décor company has been honored with the 2007 Entrepreneurial Leadership Award from the Asian Women in Business (AWIB) organization.  

The Entrepreneurial Leadership Award recognizes outstanding Asian women from the small business and corporate world. Bringing to the forefront women of achievement, AWIB acknowledges the ever-increasing economic influence of Asian women in the U.S. today. In previous years notable personalities such as Jeannie Park of People Magazine and Victoria Chu-Pao of Platts, a McGraw-Hill Company have been honored by AWIB.

Together with her husband David Wang, Mei founded Pacific Trade International, Inc in 1994 – two years after she had come to the U.S. in pursuit of her graduate degree in Journalism. In addition to driving her businesses Mei is furthering foreign language education in the U.S. and China. Mei is providing support to the schools in the U.S. and China with the objective of establishing sustainable partnerships, student exchange programs, and language summer camps.

Mei is also a member of the U.S. China Business Council and participates in the Initiative for Global Development organized by Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright, and Bill Gates. Partnering with the National Association of Women Business Owners and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mei is also actively involved in promoting the leadership of professional women.

Mei’s efforts on behalf of education and global anti-poverty, as well as the unprecedented growth of Pacific Trade International have earned her Asian Women In Business 2007 Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. She will be formally honored in the awards ceremony at The Hilton New York City on October 16.
