Parma, Ohio To Honor First African-American Police Officer With Street Naming Ceremony

PARMA, Ohio - March 3, 2025 - PRLog -- The City of Parma proudly announces a special street naming ceremony in honor of Sergeant Nicholas Hunter, the first African American police officer in the city's history. The ceremony will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at 5555 Powers Blvd, Parma, OH 44129.

Sergeant Hunter, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2022, was cherished for his unwavering dedication to the community and his commitment to serving with integrity. The newly designated "Nick Hunter Way" symbolizes not only his service but also the values he embodied—honesty, candor, and a spirit of camaraderie. Known for his uplifting motto, "It's all good baby," Sergeant Hunter left an indelible mark on the Parma Police Department and the community he served.

The ceremony will feature honor guards and K-9 officers from the Parma Police Department, paying tribute to Sergeant Hunter's legacy and his contributions to law enforcement in the city.
