By: www.gotdani.com Many designers, including Meadowmere Lane, Sugar n Spice Clothing, 1 of My Kind, and Onch Movement jewelry will be showcased during the fashion event, as well as pieces from top designers Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Stars, Cynthia Vincent, Ella Moss and Jamie Kreitman Shoes. Emmy award winning actress and breast cancer activist, Marcia Wallace, will be at the event speaking to women and signing her book. A breast cancer survivor herself, Wallace has detailed her life in the autobiography Don’t Look Back, We’re Not Going That Way, and travels through out the year as a motivational speaker, educating and inspiring women everywhere. Wallace starred as Maggie the Whitehouse maid and confidant to Mrs. Bush, (Carrie Quinn Dolin) in That’s My Bush, Comedy Central’s live action satire on the Bush family from the creators of South Park. But she might be best known as Carol Kester on the Bob Newhart Show, a role she reprised later in Murphy Brown; Wallace gained an Emmy nomination for her guest starring role as Secretary 66 and went on to win an Emmy for the voice of Edna Krabappel, Bart’s teacher on The Simpsons. The 1st Annual Pink Fashion event will also include a silent auction, shopping, beauty treatments, and information on Breast Cancer Awareness. The event will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday October 27th. The American Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Facts and Figures, 2007-2008 Report, notes that breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women. 1 in 4 women in America are diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2000-2004 half of the women in the US who were diagnosed with breast cancer were aged 61 and under and half were older. This event will help raise funds and awareness of what only 20 years ago was spoken about in hushed tones, when many women were too ashamed or embarrassed or just plain unaware of how important it was to get any signs of possible breast cancer checked out sooner rather than later. “We really wanted to have an event where women could help other women.” Said owner of Fresh, Annie Schwartz, “This is a very important issue… We can raise money by shopping and having fun, but we never lose sight of the importance of education, awareness and early detection. We are excited to have Marcia Wallace joining us for this special event to help spread that very important message.” Fresh is located at 24419 Walnut Street, Newhall, CA 91321.
