By: Press Office UAE Minister of Justice Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri said while addressing a regional conference dedicated to discuss the UN anti-corruption convention in the Dead Sea resort of Jordan in January, 2008 “…the UAE has drafted organizational and punitive legislations to ensure integrity and transparency in government performance...” “Corruption is not a phenomenon in the UAE community, but we are determined in light of the current boom to devise adequate mechanism to fight it and punish corruptors in line with international standards,” the minister underlined. Ironically the UAE Consulate General in Hong Kong under Consul Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi has flagrantly evidenced deceitful accounting practices, certification pricing irregularities and abuses of power as reported to the 2 year old Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ARABCCI) in Hong Kong, by various corporate members. Subsequent to raising concern with the UAE Embassy and other Government representatives by ARABCCI. In a deliberate cover-up scheme, UAE Consul General, Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi, embarked on a sham campaign against the Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its President, Lord Edwin E. Hitti, with groundless, divisive, untruthful and extremely defamatory allegations against Lord Hitti and the ARABCCI alike - irreparably tarnishing the perception of Arabs and Muslims alike. Jeopardizing not only the integrity of the UAE Government with its Consular fraudulent practices, Consul Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi went on to compromise the credibility of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry by creating and providing such unwarranted false representations in his official capacity as UAE Consul for dissemination to other Chambers of Commerce and local newspapers in the Middle East, in a scandalous conspiracy attempt. Consul Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi has even taken it upon himself to wage a smear campaign in Hong Kong through the media, communications with government and local authorities far exceeding his mandate as representative of the UAE government, as well as communicating most recently reported ultimatums to members of the Chamber about their ability to continue doing business in the UAE unless they ceased all contact with the ARABCCI – which may lead to ultimate harassment charges by members. The Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Hong Kong and its President Lord Edwin E. Hitti, urge your immediate intervention and regret the implication of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry and its adherent medias, for falling victim to Consul, Saeed Hamad Al-Junaibi’s unrepentant Haram Act of bearing false witness and rumor-mongering. In the interests of the ever-growing China-Arab commercial synergy, Hong Kong’s Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry remains committed to serving both Asian and Arab businesses alike, as best we can. The Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is a Hong Kong Civil Society, established in 2006 as a non-profit organization in accordance with the Hong Kong Societies Ordinance, independent of any Government or interference - with a sole purpose of promoting commercial ties between the Hong Kong SAR, China and the Arab World, for the good of all.
