Nov. 11, 2008 - PRLog -- Dallas, TX October 17, 2008---Kleiman Evangelista Eye Center in Arlington, Texas announces the launch of a new advertising campaign in an effort to educate seniors about Crystalens HD®, the nation’s only FDA-approved accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) for the treatment of cataracts.

Three million cataract surgeries are performed each year; however, research indicates that very few patients are aware of the differences between certain intraocular lenses, the technology utilized to correct cataracts. Unlike the standard cataract replacement lenses, Crystalens HD eliminates the patient’s cataract while helping them achieve the ability to see clearly at all distances without help from corrective eyewear. Many Crystalens HD patients rarely need their glasses or contacts again.

“What my patients love most about the Crystalens HD procedure is their ability to see clearly at all distances after the surgery,” said David Kleiman, M.D., founder of Kleiman Evangelista Eye Center. “We’re pleased with this new advertising campaign because we are confident and excited about the ability of this procedure to help our patients achieve exceptional vision while reducing and often eliminating the need for corrective eyewear for near, intermediate and distance vision.”

The advertising campaign is scheduled to run from mid October 2008 through the end of the year. The campaign will utilize local television, radio and newspapers to target consumers 50 years or older to educate them about the effects and benefits of Crystalens HD.

“The Direct to Consumer Advertising campaign provides an opportunity to encourage patients to talk to their ophthalmologist about whether they are candidates for Crystalens HD or to visit the Crystalens HD website (www.crystalens.com) to learn more about this exciting vision correction alternative,” said Amy Jacobs, Director of Global Marketing for Bausch & Lomb.

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, resulting in distorted and fuzzy vision. Crystalens HD replaces the eye’s natural lens with one that allows for improved vision near, far and in between and permanently removes the patient’s cataract.

“If you are planning to have cataract surgery, you should know about Crystalens HD,” Jacobs said. “The advertising is designed to let this large and important demographic know that they have a choice in vision correction that can help them improve their full range of vision.”
