Follow on Google News | Fitness Crowd All Abuzz About of All Things: Water BottlesEco Friendly Bottle is the latest craze at fitness centers and among walkers, runners, and bikers. Finally a plastic water bottle that fully biodegrades in landfill.
By: Cal Springs, LLC I really don't want to go through all the hassle of wearing my water on my back and drinking out of a straw that can never be fully washed. Aluminum bottles seem like a potential option, but they are not that convenient when you’re trying to drink and run and they dent easily. Then it came to me. What about my old friend the squeeze bottle. You know. The kind cyclists have used for half-a-century. That was my choice before all of these other options came along. I suppose I wanted to be trendy. The reality was that the polycarbonate bottles weren't so great for convenient drinking either, but they sure did look great. Anyway, a quick check under bicycle water bottles in Google pointed to some amazing news. There is a plastic water bottle made by the giant in the industry, Cal Springs, LLC., that is 100% biodegradable in landfill. It seems that they have developed this BioGreen bottle that has an additive called BioBatch™. If somehow you get done with this bottle after using it for up to five years, and you accidently put it into the black trash can instead of the blue one, you won't go to jail. You will still be invited to Al Gore's parties. This plastic bottle will actually turn into soil nutrients within 1-5 years. I'm guessing there has to be a catch. Safety issues about leaching some kind of chemical that hurts large dogs and small humans in lab experiments. In fact, it turns out this is the totally safest plastic out there. You have it in your fridge right now holding catsup or grape jelly or apple juice. It's called LDPE (low density polyethylene, and it doesn't have any BPA's, is FDA approved for food storage, and California prop 65 compliant. With all that going for it, and the original benefit of just squeezing the water into your mouth through that little pop up valve, I'm figuring I need to up my Master Card limit to buy one. Check it out. They don't cost any more than similar bottles that don't biodegrade. Depending on size, you can find them for $4 - $6. And there selling them all over in bike shops and on Amazon.com One more cool thing. If your putting together an event or looking for a promotional product for your company, these bottles can be printed with any logo or other information for just a little more scratch. It is nice to be reunited with an old friend. The treadmill awaits. # # # Cal Springs, LLC is the largest maker of bicycle style, sports water bottles in the world. With the capacity to manufacture and print almost 10 million water bottles per year, the company is unique in its focus on LDPE bottles. LDPE is the athletes choice in that the soft squeezability of these water bottles provides an easy and fast way to get lots of liquid on a bicycle, a treadmill, or speed walking the streets. The company is particularly well known for its precise and elaborate printing capability. The first bottle company to offer full color printing on a squeeze type water bottle, they quickly found a niche in the advertising specialty business, selling products through promotional products distributors to almost every corporation on the Fortune 500. Recently the company was the first to offer a woman's style bottle in LDPE, and introduced the breakthrough BioGreen material that results in the bottle fully biodegrading in landfill. End
