Dec. 3, 2008 - PRLog -- The Association for Women in Communications South Florida Chapter (AWC), in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women (CFW), will hold a holiday fundraiser social to benefit The Lodge, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The fundraiser will be held at Brosia Restaurant in Miami on December 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a cover charge of $10 for members of the AWC and CFW and $20 for nonmembers.

The fundraiser social will feature complimentary sangria and appetizers, a prize raffle, a silent auction, and cosmetics and skincare giveaways.  All proceeds will go to The Lodge http://www.thelodgemiami.org, helping the organization continue to provide counseling and shelter to domestic and sexual violence victims in Miami-Dade County.  For more information, to sponsor this event, or to donate prizes or gift bag items, contact info@awcsouthflorida.org.

“We’re excited to throw a party to support such a fantastic cause,” said Tonya Scholz, president of the AWC. “The Lodge  fills a critical need in Miami-Dade for safe, confidential services for victims of domestic violence and rape. So the AWC, as the oldest professional organization dedicated to the advancement of women, applauds The Lodge’s invaluable work. We’re delighted to contribute towards its operations.”

“As we prepare our families for the holidays, it’s more important than ever to remember women and their families who need shelter from domestic and sexual abuse. That’s why the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, an advisory board to the Miami-Dade County Commissioners, is partnering with the Association for Women in Communications to raise funds and awareness for The Lodge, a vital resource for those victims,” commented Carmen Elias-Levenson, chairperson of the CFW. “Together, and with participation from the Miami-Dade community, we can help a great organization continue to provide support and help to those who need it most.”
