Dec. 13, 2008 - PRLog -- Luminous Teleinfra Limited a SAR Group company focusing on providing reduction in energy consumption and operating expenses solutions to telecom applications worldwide, unveils the revolutionary technology at the Asia’s Largest Telecom Fair ‘ India Telecom 2008’ at Pragati Maidan. The company is committed to delivering innovative integrated infrastructure solutions that reduce dependency on and consumption of fossil fuels.

The revolutionary technology Energy Management and Backup Unit (EMBU) developed by Luminous Teleinfra, is a combination of solar, wind, battery and diesel for energy usage, storage and management for BTS & BSC sites. These solutions of Luminous Teleinfra will prove to be a significant initiative in addressing energy related OPEX saving challenges of telecom operators and infrastructure companies. EMBU provides for efficient energy management for Single or Multi operator BTS sites with or without Air-Conditioners. It provides Line conditioning, Power backup using battery and inverter and manages environmental parameters of the site in an intelligent and self learning manner to optimize the energy storage and usage there-by minimizing use of DG.

Said Mr Rakesh Malhotra, Founder & CEO, SAR Group “Our leadership position in Energy conversion, storage and control technologies will definitely help the brand to replicate this success story in telecom venture. We will keep on introducing innovative technologies that will certainly help the industry to improve efficiency, reducing cost and carbon footprint.”

“Luminous Teleinfra Limited clearly aiming to be a brand of choice and among the top five passive telecom infrastructure solution providers globally by 2015, the company currently remains focused on India and other grid-deficit countries. The company would be introducing the concepts which would definitely provide a strong and successful back up to the telecom industry.” Further added by Mr. Malhotra.

It is estimated that 300,000 new BTS site are expected to roll-out in 3 years in India while nearly 200,000 already exist. Typically these sites are backed-up by a 15KVA to 25KVA or 40KVA DG Set. A large majority of these sites are located in Grid-deficit areas needing a DG Set to run as much as 4 to 20 hours! Even a typical 15KVA DG Set consumes over 2.5 liters of diesel every hour. This is where Luminous Teleinfra will provide Power backup using battery and inverter and manages environmental parameters of the site in an intelligent and self learning manner to optimize the energy storage and usage there-by minimizing use of DG and maintenance cost too.

Luminous Teleinfra in advanced stages is setting up manufacturing facilities in Himachal Pradesh for telecom & deep cycle batteries with a manufacturing capacity of approximately 1 billion AH. The company is also setting up a manufacturing facility for power electronics products such as EMBU etc. with an annual capacity to manufacture 50,000 units. In the next phase of expansion of its manufacturing capacities, Luminous Teleinfra plans to set up a plant to manufacture up to 20,000 shelters per annum.

Said Mr. Paresh Pradhan, Director & President, Luminous Teleinfra Limited “Growth in emerging markets is one of the ultimate challenges for telecom players as more and more networks are being rolled out deeper and deeper. It is only natural that all telcos are facing the challenges like Reliability of network, cost of operation and challenges posed by logistics etc...”

“In the overall scenario where there is no defined standard power availability pattern available, since power is not guaranteed telcos need to provide for contingencies and backup. Some solutions developed to cope up with these challenges have been used are actually environmentally unfit due to high Carbon emission and also result in higher OPEX. Wherein, Luminous Teleinfra will be directed to provide Power backup using battery and inverter and manages environmental parameters of the site in an intelligent and self learning manner.” further added by Mr. Pradhan
