Follow on Google News | The Deadline for Research Grants in the Social Sciences is ApproachingScholars have only a few weeks to apply for grants in the social sciences.
By: The Horowitz Foundation The Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy selected fourteen scholars to receive research grants in the social sciences for 2007. A complete list of recipients, their institutions, and their projects is located at http://www.horowitz- Established in 1998, the Horowitz Foundation now approves approximately ten grants per year as of the 2008 distribution, in amounts ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 per grant. The Foundation makes targeted grants for work in major areas of the social sciences, including anthropology, area studies, economics, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban studies, as well as newer areas such as evaluation research. Preference is given to scholars completing their advanced degrees or in the early stages of their careers. Awards are approved solely on merit, and are not allocated so as to ensure a representative base of disciplines. Research grants are open to scholars in all social science disciplines for projects that deal with contemporary issues in the social sciences, particularly issues of policy relevance. Applicants need not be citizens of the United States, and grants are not restricted to U.S. residents.
