The Ashy L Bowz debut album No Lotion released free on Ash Wednesday!!!

March 1, 2009 - PRLog -- If you didn't take notice of all the more religious persons on the street walking around with what looked like police fingerprinting ink on their foreheads, then you might not have known that this past February 25th was Ash Wednesday, but if you're fan of the Hip Hop group the Ashy L Bowz, you've been waiting for the day all year. Ash Wednesday marks the one year anniversary of the release of the The Ashy L Bowz debut album "NoLotion". The L Bowz originally planned to release their sophomore album on Ash Wednesday but were forced to push it back due to matter beyond their control, but they did not let the day go by without recognition.

The group celebrated it with their fans by  allowing free downloads of their critically acclaimed debut album "No Lotion" which features actor/comedian Donnell Rawlings better known as Ashy Larry from the Dave Chappelle show. In 2008 "No Lotion" was nominated for rap album of the year at the 8th Annual Independent Music Awards among a host of other accomplishments.The Barons of Bowdust are now working with veteran engineer John Hopkins of LoFish Recording Studios to re-mix and engineer the album and plan to re-release it this spring. Mr. Hopkins has worked with artists the likes of Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes,  Mobb Deep,  Corey Gunz, Leanne Rhymes and George Clinton to name a few. When asked why the wanted re-engineer the album they said "Most people don't know that we not only wrote the first album but we also recorded and engineered it ourselves, the only thing we didn't do was produce it so we figure if we could make it sound that good by ourselves, imagine what it will sound like when a professional gets a hold of it."

Also in celebration of Ash Wednesday the group released an un-mastered leak version of the first single from their new album "No Lotion Squared" entitled "Break it Down", which sounds like a fusion of early 90's hip hop and Rock and Roll. They are hoping for an early summer release of "No Lotion Squared", but are in no rush and plan to release several other projects in 2009, to as they put it  "help spread the ash".
