April 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Alice Paisley is teaming up with her friend Juliet Waud, who she met studying at Edinburgh University, to take part in the Mongolian Charity Rally this summer to raise money for Save The Children.

The event challenges teams to drive more than 10,000 miles from London to Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, crossing five mountain ranges, two deserts and countless inhospitable terrains along the way.

Participants provide their own vehicles, which are then auctioned off in Mongolia for the benefit of local communities.

Thanks to the support of Malvern-based packaging company Automated Packaging Systems, Alice and Juliet will be making the trip to Mongolia in an ambulance.

APS is purchasing the ambulance, and also providing the £1,000 sponsorship requirement for taking part in the rally.

Alice explained: “We wanted to do it in an ambulance as we feel that it will be of more benefit to the Mongolian people than a standard car. But we would never have been able to buy an emergency vehicle without the support from APS.”

Neither Alice nor Juliet, who are both 23, has ever taken part in an event of this nature before, and they are looking forward to the unique challenge ahead.

“It will be an amazing adventure and a fantastic challenge, but there is also the charity aspect so it will actually benefit the local society instead of just being us having a good time,” said Juliet. “We want to raise as much money as possible for Save The Children whilst pushing ourselves to the limit. It will be the biggest challenge of our lives.”

APS is supporting the Rally as it wanted a worthwhile project to support in what is its 25th anniversary in Europe. As well as providing the ambulance and sponsorship the company will also be helping Alice and Juliet to raise further funds.

Alice and Juliet will be setting off on the Rally on July 11 and they estimate being away for about six to eight weeks.
