Follow on Google News | Jazmo's Bourbon Street Cafe Celebrates 15th AnniversaryTulsa business success story as this New Orleans style restaurant celebrates being in business for 15 years in the same historic location on Cherry Street in Tulsa, OK.
By: Butler & Butler, Inc. Originally named Bourbon Street Café, the owners, Ward and Dyana Harrison, added the name Jazmo’z in 2005 so the name could be trademarked. The new name is a reminder that live entertainment is featured Thursday through Sunday evenings highlighting blues and jazz bands such as Steve Pryor, Little Joe, Scott Ellison and Rusty Miller and The Furnace. When you ask Ward Harrison why he picked Cherry Street, he says, “It’s a great location, close to downtown and an eclectic area amidst other popular places to be.” And him why New Orleans style? “Tulsa needed a good seafood restaurant and I like spicier food, so it was a perfect match.” And so it was. The restaurant has been honored numerous times with “Best New Restaurant” and “Best Cajun Restaurant” awards by area publications. Jazmo’z is also known for being a good corporate citizen by supporting local charities and schools and the Oklahoma Restaurant Association. It now employs over 70 people, several of which have been long term providing continuity of service and favorite dishes such as Chicken Bon Ton, Seafood Sauté, Crab Cakes, Fried Alligator Bites, Gumbos and Bread Pudding. (more) Celebrations are not a rarity at Jazmo’z with Mardi Gras being the most popular one complete with colorful beads and New Orleans specialty fares and drinks. Other holidays are celebrated with special buffets or the popular New Orleans cuisine is catered to special events. To celebrate the 15th anniversary on Cherry Street, specialty entrees are available for $15 complete with famous scrumptious bread pudding during the week of April 17 – 23. Throughout April weekday specials are: Monday - Fried Catfish, Tuesday - Fried Shrimp, Wednesday – Crawfish Etouffee and Thursday Chicken Bon Ton. This summer all import draught beers (18 on tap) will be only $3. And Happy Hour (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) always offers half price appetizers. After 15 years, it’s clear that the Harrisons and Jazmo’z Bourbon Street Café on Cherry Street at 1542 E. 15th know how to Laisse le bon temps rouler – Let the good times roll!
