June 23, 2009 - PRLog -- 101 artists of the French and international contemporary art scene take the stage at the MACA – Museum of Contemporary Art of Acri (Cs), Italy. The works they present – inspired by collector Philippe Delaunay’s ingenious intuition of sending each one of them a chair, still packed and yet to assemble, with the only instruction of making a unique work of art out of it – can be defined as acts of revitalizing transfiguration of the ordinary. The 101 artists have destroyed the chair, they deconstructed it, dismantled it, disfigured it, dematerialized it, decorated it, adorned it, and, above all, they brought it to a new life by playing a game whose only rules were the ones dictated by their own artistic inspiration, thus donating the chair a new consistency, that of chaise-oeuvre –  it dismisses its appearance of chair and it becomes assise, meaning base, ground, the bedrock of our own vision.
Starting from a banal object each artist has developed his own creative vision. This event has been put into concrete form by the comparison between the peculiar individualities of each one of them. Anyone can enjoy this artistic ensemble because of the multiple, recreational approaches of which it is made, that are able to encourage the raising of a consciousness open to the effects of contemporary art: a mechanism of that dream generating machine that invites each one of us to respond to these 101 different languages with a new gaze and a new reflection. The artists surprise us both because of their way of looking at things, so diversified and eclectic, and the magic of their creations that draws us to interrogate ourselves, way beyond banality, on contemporary art practice and the art’s contribution to ordinary life.
