Follow on Google News | NBC 7/39 And United Way Of San Diego County Ask San Diegans To "Give 7"NBC 7/39 and the United Way of San Diego County are teaming up for Give7, an unprecedented collaboration joining San Diegans who need a helping hand with volunteers who have the time or resources to help.
San Diegans are encouraged to follow the stories of those receiving help on NBCSandiego.com. And by searching Give7 they’ll also be able to find out other ways they can help. “During hard economic times, everyone has felt the ripple effect of unemployment, foreclosures, and other hardships,” said Jackie Bradford, President and General Manager of NBC 7/39. “We know we can’t solve the big problems, but doing little things for each other can make a big difference.” The campaign, launched on July 7, also asks San Diegans to give $7 to the United Way and tell 7 of their friends – a new way of raising funds by asking a lot of people to give a little, instead of relying on fewer people to give more. By also using social networking, such as YouTube and Facebook, the United Way hopes this Give7 campaign will let San Diegans know how their small contributions can have a huge impact on our community. “If every person spreads the word and gives a little bit, imagine how much we can all raise together. Our partnership with NBC 7/39 will help us get the word out to San Diegans who want to help,” said Doug Sawyer, President and CEO of United Way. “During this downturn, more people are relying on agencies for help. Those agencies rely on United Way, and we in turn rely on people who are willing to help their neighbors. That’s why we’ve launched the Give 7 campaign.” For more information about Give7 visit www.nbcsandiego.com and search Give7, or visit www.give7.org. # # # United Way of San Diego County is a nonprofit organization that improves lives and creates lasting change by raising money and mobilizing the community to solve education, income and health issues.
