Follow on Google News | Melissa Otero Begins Work on Sophomore AlbumWith her Free Spirit Tour dwindling, the pop/rock artist continues work on her second album.
Since the release of “My Spirit”, her songs “10:40pm”, “Free” and “Not Lost Anymore” have been featured on general radio rotation in Hawaii, Florida, Colombia, Puerto Rico and some parts of Europe as well as featured at the McDonald’s video montage in Times Square. During the early part of 2009, Melissa gained interest from Joe Harlow of Karate America which at the time, was searching for artists to add to his roster. Mr. Harlow had begun helping local artists with promotions and management alongside his company Karate America but was unable to find the perfect artist he needed to break in the industry. He described Melissa as “having the drive most artists don’t have” and set out to become one of the sponsors for Melissa’s “Free Spirit Tour” to help promote “My Spirit” during the course of the summer. After several performances around the Fox Valley area, Melissa returned to New York to continue promotion on her album where she met and was interviewed by Julio Garcia of La Voz Hispana. There Melissa was featured in the July 16th edition of the newspaper which gave Melissa excellent coverage to increase her fan base within the Latin community. During the same time, Ms. Otero set out for another performance in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico where she would present the song “Free” in Spanish for the first time in front of a large audience. It was said that close to 500 people attended and the Mayor of Hormigueros was thoroughly impressed with her music and stage presence inviting her back to the town for another show. At the time Melissa is continuing her travels back to Puerto Rico as well as Colombia during the upcoming months to continue promoting her debut album while working on her second. The music video for her unreleased track “Phantom of My Heart” is in the works with New Jersey filmmaker Bill Hash and ATV CEO Eli Gonzales. Melissa promises her next album will be “stronger, powerful, epic, rocking and in your face. I’m really excited to see what this album will consist of. So far we’ve started on “Phantom of My Heart” and it’s insane. Totally rocking! A song I originally created with a more Enigma new age style has now turned into a new age/rock a la Evanescence! On September 2nd, 2009, Melissa will have her last performance that is part of her "Free Spirit Tour" at Fontana's in New York City. The show will commence at 8pm and the repertoire will include songs from her debut album as well as a few cover songs.
