Aug. 31, 2009 - PRLog -- BURLINGTON, N.C. – On September 15 at Beacon Ridge Country Club in West End, N.C., representatives from The Village at Brookwood (http://www.village@brookwood.org), a Life Care Community located in central North Carolina, will make presentations and answer questions about retirement options and the benefits of a wellness lifestyle during retirement.

“In this changing economic landscape, soon-to-be retirees and those who are looking at the ‘second phase’ of retirement often have questions about the next phase of life and what kind of lifestyle will be right for them,” said Kent Kirchin, retirement counselor. “My colleague Sherri Walker and I jokingly call this our ‘Road Show’ because we are able to explain in detail the benefits of a Life Care Community and how an active, engaging lifestyle can help you live longer, healthier lives.”

Life Care Communities offer residents a continuum of care and assure access to assisted living or full health care in private on-sit accommodations. Residents invest in their future health care with entrance fees and monthly fees that may offer the benefit of significant tax deductions. The Village at Brookwood is a centrally located Life Care community in Burlington, N.C. and is affiliated with Alamance Regional Medical Center.

“A cornerstone of our philosophy at The Village at Brookwood is wellness,” said Kirchin. “At The Village, there are myriad opportunities for engaging in an active, healthy lifestyle. Our new Wellness Center offers a state-of-the-art indoor, heated saltwater pool and whirlpool spa, along with exercise classes, a fitness room and massage therapy. Our Life Enrichment Coordinator plans several overnight trips each year and excursions each month to historical sites and cultural events. And there are book clubs, art classes, volunteer opportunities and fine dining all located just a few hours from the mountains and the beach.”

The Breakfast at Beacon Ridge program occurs at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Beacon Ridge Country Club, located at 6000 Longleaf Drive in West End. A full breakfast will be served during the sessions, and attendees will have the opportunity ask questions and gather literature.

“It’s important for individuals to make decisions about their retirement while they have the ability to independently make those decisions,” Kirchin said. “The more knowledge they have about financial and lifestyle options, the better prepared they will be to plan the next phase of their lives.”
