Follow on Google News | All Natural Sushi Company Launches Recipe Contest Using Vegan DressingWhole Foods Market sushi vendor, Genji Inc., launches vegan dressing recipe contest and expands offerings into dietary niche-markets.
By: Ken Blakeman, Genji, Inc. Multi-Grain sushi uses a 15-grain blend mixed with white rice, which provides 70% more dietary fiber and 150% more iron than white rice sushi. In its Southern stores, Genji is test-marketing the removal of soy sauce from sushi packets, and giving customers the option of either regular or wheat-free soy sauce on the side, to tap into a growing segment of gluten intolerant customers. For customers who can’t fathom eating raw fish, there are several rolls which contain cooked fish choices, such as shrimp, crabstick or eel. The Sweet Chili Vegan Roll features soy patties, made from non-GMO soy, and is served with a vegan Sweet Chili side-sauce. For several years, the Company has included several vegetarian-friendly items in its product mix. Now Genji is stepping up its marketing campaign for its best-selling Vegan Ginger Miso Dressings to further emphasize that sushi is not just about raw fish. Launched in March of 2008 as a salad dressing, and as a complement to a few vegetarian sushi items, Ginger Miso Dressing has developed a vocal fan-base. The Company regularly receives emails from customers who rave about the product, one who even jokingly compared it to crack because she kept coming back for more. Now Genji is ready to let the world know that its Original and Spicy Ginger Miso Dressings can be used in place of ketchup on any kind of burger (including veggie burgers), as a dip for veggie sticks, and as a marinade for any number of fish. Rather than telling customers how to use the dressings, Genji is launching its “Dress It Up” contest, to involve customers in re-positioning the salad dressings into marinades and topping sauces. The online contest runs from August 31st through September 30th. Customers can enter the contest by submitting as many recipes as they’d like online, and uploading a picture of the item. First place prize will be a $300 gift card to Whole Foods Market, who is not a sponsor, but is the chain which hosts Genji, Inc.’s sushi bars. Second and Third place prizes are $200 and $100 gift cards, respectively.
