Sept. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Following the dramatic growth of solar energy industry around the world, solar technologies have been advancing in the component level including films, coatings, glass, and other solar material innovations. What is coming, what is under development, what is missing, how do these portray the current and upcoming technology development, and how will they influence the solar energy industry will be the focus of the symposium.

NAMI is organizing a half-day nanotechnology and advanced materials forum on solar energy titled "Unleashing the Power of Helios - Emerging Trends in Photovoltaic Technologies" at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on September 28, 2009 (Monday). NAMI has invited distinguished speakers from academia and the industry to give presentations on the following topics:

Professor Henry HC Kuo, the Chief Technology Officer (Special Projects) of Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd, will be presenting "Development Strategy and Roadmap for the Emerging PV Industry in Hong Kong";

Professor DS Wuu from the Department of Materials Engineering at the National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan will be presenting "Si Thin-Film Technology for High Efficiency PV Applications";

Professor Furong Zhu from the Department of Physics at the Hong Kong Baptist University will be presenting "Organic Solar Cells";

Professor Jianjun Yang, the Vice President and Director of R&D Center of Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd will be presenting "Flat Glass and its Fabricated Products";

Dr. Steve T Chen, the Corporate Strategist of China Solar Energy, will be presenting "Thin Film PV and Technology and Investment to Enable Grid Parity".

The forum provides participants a platform where academics, business professionals, and end users from solar energy industry can exchange their views on the latest technology development and their applications.

Along with presentations, technology showcase and focus group are arranged to provide our participants the knowledge and resources that a growing number of industry professionals have only recently begun manifesting.
