Oct. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- ATLANTA – On Saturday, Oct. 10, HomeAid Atlanta announced the winners of the three playhouses featured in Project Playhouse® 2009, the organization’s signature annual fundraiser. Hundreds of eager raffle ticket holders gathered in the Playhouse Village at The Avenue Forsyth on Saturday evening to witness the raffle drawings. The three lucky winners were all local families, residing in Cumming, Dawsonville and Suwanee. The raffle drawings marked the conclusion of Project Playhouse, which has been on display at The Avenue Forsyth in Cumming, Ga. since Sept. 19.

During the three-week event, more than 7,600 people visited the Playhouse Village to view the extraordinary child-size dream homes, and nearly 12,200 raffle tickets were sold for an opportunity to win each of the playhouses. All proceeds from Project Playhouse benefit HomeAid Atlanta’s mission of building and maintaining dignified housing for temporarily homeless families and individuals in the metro Atlanta area.

“We were very pleased with the success of Project Playhouse in our first year at The Avenue Forsyth,” said Ann Carey, executive director for HomeAid Atlanta. “The response from the local community was outstanding and we are very thankful to everyone who supported the event, ultimately helping us to continue building hope for today’s homeless.”

On Monday, Oct. 5, HomeAid Atlanta announced the winner of the prestigious Project Playhouse People’s Choice Award at a luncheon honoring the playhouse building teams. The winner was Camp Tranquility by Dan DeJiacomo Custom Homes. The award was voted on by the public, with votes cast in-person at the Playhouse Village, online and via text.

Project Playhouse® 2009 showcased three child-size dream homes designed and built by an exclusive group of Atlanta’s leading architects and home builders. The playhouses featured were Captain’s Quarters, a charming nautical cottage built by Traton Homes; Camp Tranquility, a cozy mountain lodge built by Dan DeJiacomo Custom Homes; and Tech Tower, a miniature replica of the Georgia Tech landmark built by a group of students from the Georgia Tech College of Architecture in partnership with Dovetail Homes. The custom-built playhouses were fully furnished by professional interior designers and exquisitely appointed with details such as built-in bookcases, beaded board paneling, hardwood floors, custom woodwork, and flat screen televisions. Each playhouse was awarded to a lucky winner through a raffle drawing.
