By: CITEM Bearing this philosophy, Chemrez Tech is poised to take part in the Japan Home and Building Show on November 11-13 in Tokyo, Japan. *The future of decorative coating Chemrez Tech was born from the merger of Corro-Coat, Inc. and Chemrez, Inc. in 2006 – both under the D&L Group of Companies that won the Golden Shell Award in 1996 for Excellence in Exports, a recognition given by the Department of Trade and Industry. It is consciously guided by principles of what it calls “green chemistry”, a discipline that engineers products and processes that optimize the use of resources and minimize the generation of harmful waste. For the JHBS, the company is anticipating a market for its line of high-quality polyester powder coatings that are ideal for coating ferrous and non-ferrous metal components, agricultural equipment, garden furniture, leisure products, home appliances, and even glass and clay materials. To be noted are its PE-F (Polyester for Façade) and PE-SDF (Polyester Super Durable) powder coatings, produced in several colors and are characterized by high color gloss retention even upon long-term external exposure. Edison See, Senior Product Manager of Chemrez Tech, considers their products competitive because “we know that only a few companies offer what we do, and the technology for creating these products is not easy to copy.” *Towards sustainable construction The rationale for using powder coatings is that they are far more eco-friendly and economical than liquid paint. Even with gas masks on, wet paint fumes are highly toxic. On the contrary, powder coatings contain no solvents and release no volatile organic compounds (VOC) into the atmosphere. Chemrez Tech ensures that dangerous heavy metals and chemicals have been eliminated from its processes, all geared towards preserving the environment and thereby improving the quality of life. In addition, if we let the figures speak for themselves, wet paint wastage comes to about 30% upon application, while powder coating overspray itself can be collected and reused, which leads to only 2% wastage and tremendous savings. These obvious advantages to Chemrez Tech’s products are what the company believes will be its main selling points to Japan. In fact, it has already exported to countries like China, Vietnam, and Hong Kong. Along with nine other Philippine companies participating in the JHBS, namely Coast Pacific Manufacturing Corporation, Demex Rattancraft, Inc., EZ Rocks Co. Inc., GT Stoneworks, Nakayama Technology Corporation, Nature’s Legacy Eximport, Inc., Piedra Systems, Inc., Teresa Marble Corporation, and Venus Crafts Corporation, Chemrez Tech hopes to attract potential customers and be seen as a viable alternative to the more expensive manufacturers abroad, and be recognized for its products that support sustainable construction.
