Nov. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- Are discount ski lift tickets becoming a thing of the past in Southern California? Mt Baldy Ski Lifts have been aggressive in their marketing of special season passes at dramatically reduced rates.

Mt Baldy Ski Lifts have been actively promoting the sales of their season passes at prices that are hard to ignore.

Currently they are offering special season passes at $99.95. Last month these passes were available through the Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce for $49.95.

Although these special season passes have a few restrictions and are only available for a limited time they appear to be a real bargain for skiers and snowboarders.

Mt Baldy is the closest ski resort to much of Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire and all of Orange County. At $99.95 season pass is about the same as a couple of daily discount ski lift tickets and has to be hard to turn down for skiers and snowboarders in the area.

Too good to be true you say? Not if you consider the business logic behind the offer. There are approximately 10 million residents in Mt Baldy’s market area yet a high percentage of these people are not sure where the mountain is located.

During the winter these residents can see the snowcapped mountain prominently from the 10, 210, 60 and 57 freeways but don’t realize that is Mt Baldy or that you can’t actually “get there from here.”

By making an irresistible offer of season passes for $99.95 to skiers and snowboarders it makes them think about where Mt Baldy is located.

Mt Baldy Ski Lifts has also just installed a new 9 million gallon reservoir and purchased additional snow making equipment. This alone will increase their snow making capabilities almost 50% over previous seasons.

With some long range weather forecasts predicting an El Nino, a season pass to Mt Baldy for only $99.95 could be the deal of the season. If nothing else, it puts a stop to the ongoing search for daily discount ski lift tickets.
