Nov. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- The prestigous Environment Awards that are run annually by the Sheffield Telegraph, are quick becoming a bench mark for local firms to showcase the work they are doing. They help highlight how Sheffield companies have a local and national effect on lowering the environmental risks through innovation.

GreenAsap was launched in Spring of this year to provide the first service of its kind to allow the public to order environmental reports online before making an offer on a property.

Through their sister website, GreenLightReport.co.uk, people can now find out about any existing environmental problems such as flooding, subsidence, landfill, radon and pollution incidents. They can then make an informed decision at an early stage on whether to proceed before spending large amounts on conveyancing or running the risk of the deal falling through at a later date. The idea was sparked when businessman Philip Wilbourn was left with a £100,000 repair bill after his Brightside Lane premises were flooded in 2007.

He said: "It is now more important than ever for people to be armed with up-to-date information about a property before taking the plunge. The impact of climate change, the neglect of our rivers and the erosion opf natural drainage mean further flooding will be inevitable."

Running alongside the GreenLight Report, GreenASAP has also developed a website giving comprehensive advice and information to environmentally-conscious consumers, aswell at a green forum for bloggers to share their experiences, ask questions and pass on tips.
