In an era when many visual artists still distrust spoken language or the the written word, Kernodle embraces these as unavoidable extensions of visual artists' works.  He accuses the postmodernist art movement of ruining a deeply ingrained, natural ability to express shared experiences.

"Ruled by distrust, anger and insincere use of words", Kernodle says, "postmodernism produced one of history's greatest contradictions and diservices."  According to Kernodle, language might best be viewed as a liquid medium whose currents and collisions often arrive at stable accords-- something civilizaton needs to develop as a harmonious organism.
