Put the Christmas Crisis into perspective

Christmas is rarely without its fair share of stress, but thanks to Felicity Lerouge’s new book Changing the Channel we can escape the madness of Christmas as she reveals why we need to stop straining for that ever elusive feeling of perfection.

Dec. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Whilst, we may not all be like the novel’s main character Lily Butler and find ourselves freshly divorced on the exotic island of Pele with an eccentric English Aristocrat as our new best friend, author Felicity Lerouge believes we can certainly learn some lessons from this fictional heroine on how to just be happy with who we are, both the good and the bad.

“I wrote Changing the Channel to invite people to look at life from a different, more hopeful perspective. Alongside Lily, people have the opportunity to follow her on a journey that leads her to a place where she begins to accept every aspect of her character and consequently find a sense of ease with herself that allows her to accept others, just as they are, too. The effect this has on her own life gently ripples out, affecting the lives of those around her, bringing a greater sense of peace, harmony and connection. I believe that is this is what Christmas should really be about, not about who has the best present, the most alluring dress or hosts the most exquisite party,” reveals Felicity.

Changing the Channel (£10.99, Ecademy Press) introduces the Oneness Experience, referred to throughout the book as the Blessing, which is a transfer of energy, given through touch or the power of intent, that brings a sense of calm and balance. Renowned book coach Mindy Gibbins-Klein believes that this is something that people will relate to, particularly at Christmas time, when people often get drawn back to questioning the meaning of life and their overall purpose in the Universe. She says;

“Changing the Channel is very accessible and positive way for people to explore getting in tune with the Universe and those around them. Also, with it being a novel, it is fun because people can just pretend it is just about other people's lives, which makes it so much easier to absorb.”

But Felicity is quick to point out that this isn’t a spiritual guide per se but a fun and light-hearted story that enables people to simply see the world in a different way, and perhaps re-evaluate their own perspective of life, their circumstances and their future path as a result.

“The story is written as a fable specifically so that people don't feel that someone else's experience is being forced on them. That way, they can just go with the flow of the story and choose to accept as much or as little as they like. Christmas is a time of reflection and anticipation for the year ahead and it was my intention to provide a little escapism, make you laugh and dare you to believe that your happy ending could be just around the corner,” says Felicity.

Changing the Channel is priced at £10.99 and published by Ecademy Press. It is available to buy from Amazon and all good bookstores. For more information visit www.felicitylerouge.com.
