Dec. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- There are many searches that can be performed on line to trace people. These can be things such as:

•   Free electoral roll searches
•   Google searches
•   Friends reunited searches
•   Achieves and database access

We can start with free electoral roll searches online

Do free electoral roll searches really exist?

The simple answer to this is no, any company that has access to the electoral register has had to pay for that access and in most cases had to manipulate the data into a format that they can then send to their customers because of this there are no free electoral roll searches. There are companies who have access to both the historical electoral roll and the current electoral roll; these are the companies that you should target to perform a search for you. Remember that the electoral roll 2010 will so be available too.

Free people finder websites

Recent advances in communication, and social networking sites has opened up a whole new way of getting in contact with people you have lost touch with you can perform several free people finder searches to locate old friends and family, these include:

•   Google search
•   Friends reunited searches
•   123people searches
•   Facebook people search

These people search services allow you to enter someone’s name and look at the possible matches, they are ideal for tracing ex servicemen and army friends, locating people for a school reunion or finding missing people.

What about fining people who aren’t online yet?

Finding people who have not yet made it online is a more difficult task, they don’t appear on any of these systems but most should still be on the electoral roll search if you get a name search done you should be able to trace them. Further things you can do are searches of the white pages, older people still value the phone book highly so you should still aim to search the local phone book, even better you can do this search on line through BT.

Another great way to trace people offline or online for that matter is to try and contact people with the same surname in the same area, speaking to people is one of the most productive ways to trace missing people. You can ask people directly if they are related to the person you are looking for or you can speak to possible people who have the same name.

If you specifically wish to trace people in the UK it is good to add UK to your searches, for example:

•   search people in the UK
•   find missing people UK
•   People finder UK

Tracing people online is great fun but remember to be kind and courteous to anyone you speak to and bear in mind that some people who  you may contact might not want to help you, be respectful and move on to some else if this is the case and most importantly don’t take it personally.

Good luck with your people finding online.
