The Jackson Hole, Wyoming native is one of only three elite American female freeskiiers issued special invitation as team members for the 2010 Tour.
Ms. Wright is one of only three elite American female freeskiiers issued special invitation as team members for the 2010 Nissan Freeride World Tour (and one of only nine women worldwide selected for the prestigious honor). Crystal started ski racing with the Jackson Hole Ski Club when she was nine and worked her way up the ranks of ski racing. She became a member of the Western Region Elite Ski Team at 15 and later traveled with the U.S. Ski Team through Europe and South America. In 2002, Crystal was chosen to forerun the Women’s Olympic downhill at Snowbasin, Utah and was the first person to ski the course. She also achieved top five results in various North American downhills and raced in several Europa Cup downhills. Crystal graduated from Montana State University where she transferred her talent to the technical events of the highly competitive NCAA racing circuit. After many years of ski racing and downhill competition, Crystal changed focus to big mountain freeskiing. She has since pursued her freeskiing goals by quickly accumulating multiple major titles within the professional big mountain skiing circuit: Freeskiing World Tour Champion 2009, 2nd place World Tour Freeskiing Championships Alyeska, AK April 2009, 2nd place North American Freeskiing Championships Kirkwood, CA March 2009, 1st place U.S. Freeskiing Nationals Snowbird, UT March 2009, 3rd place World Extreme Skiing Championships Crested Butte, CO February 2009, 2nd place Canadian Freeskiing Championships, Red Mountain, BC January 2009, U.S. Freeskiing Tour Champion 2008, 3rd Place Freeskiing World Tour Overall 2008, and 5th World Tour Championships Alyeska, AK April 2008. Crystal's upcoming 2010 schedule of worldwide freeskiing events are set to kick off within the next few weeks. From 1/6/10 - 1/10/10, Crystal will compete with the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour team in the Canadian Freeskiing Championships, Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. In her pre-season "lowdown" interview with Subaru FWT, Crystal stated: "So far this season has been incredible, the snow conditions have been superb and the level of skiing at the comps is jaw dropping. My goals for this year are to make sure I stay healthy and strong while competing on the tour, compete in the Europe world tour stop, ski some backcountry lines in my backyard mountain ranges, go on more photo shoots, and keep skiing every day.
