Follow on Google News | 2008 Novel Foretold Tiger's WoesA famous athlete, a blond wife, lots of girlfriends, and lost sponsorship. Not Tiger Woods - Katlin Hillmacher in "Pookoo", the 2008 satire. Its author says Woods' woes may not be over.
"I wouldn't call it fortune telling, but I've learned some things about human nature," Shiloh said, amidst work on a second novel titled "Waiting for the End." Shiloh's work with celebrities (producing AOL chats), plus being a sportswriter, gave him a unique perspective into the tickings of celebrity life. A sport celeb's life played out before the public is at the heart of "Pookoo." "If the book is followed by real life, it's not over," Shiloh said. "In the book, the pressure mounted. Katlin Hillmacher goes into hiding. The paternity suits start stacking up. On one side, Katlin had a legion of fans who backed his every move, The Pookooians. The other side was where he was tried in the court of public opinion. He was quite a womanizer and a wild card, who did what he wanted. I wrote a book about a man at the top who had a long way to fall." The novel also has hard economic times, a war in Iraq, and a sympathetic female character who falls for Hillmacher. Readers in 15 countries have downloaded "Pookoo." "The success is building and this is one of those books that reality mirrors," Homefield Multimedia's Mike Pace said. "It won't go away. It's a force to be reckoned with." Shiloh has plans for a sequel and stated on his Twitter page that a sequel would be begun once the 5,000 copy mark was achieved.
