Jan. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Let this be the next big show of people power . . .
The live version of Spasticus Autisticus  was recorded at Brixton Academy on 22nd December 1990 maybe you were there singing along

Maxim's Facebook group 'Spasticus Autisticus for Number 1 in the week of 27th March 2010'  has already doubled in numbers since yesterday, demonstrating the support of the people. The Blockhead's manager Lee Harris confirmed that the live version from "Warts and Audience" is definitely Official Chart Company registered which is of paramount importance to this campaign.

Let us remind ourselves of the history surrounding this fantastic song for which so many people salute Ian Dury and The Blockheads for telling it like it is

Reasons Spasticus Autisticus should be Number 1... 1,2,3!

1. In 1981 the song was banned by the BBC because of the use of the word spastic and they didn't even try to see what point Ian were trying to get across. it's about time this genius of a song gets the recognition it deserves.

2.. On Friday last week  BBC Radio 6 pulled an entirely new radio documentary about Ian Dury and The Blockheads just the day before it was due to be aired. The reason sited by the BBC  was  the documentary's inclusion of the song Spasticus Autisticus.
29 years later and the BBC really still don't get it and that's a crying shame!

3. Why this week in particular? The 27th March 2010 will be the 10th anniversary of Ian Dury's death, and what better to celebrate his life than getting his most personal song to number 1.

From March 14th - 20th 2010, Maxim Thompson's Facebook group 'Spasticus Autisticus for Number 1 in the week of 27th March 2010', will post links to ensure group members aware of where to buy Spasticus Autisticus from. This will ensure all purchases will count for the number 1 single chart attempt.

Will you sit on the fence and do nothing?
Or will you join the group, buy the download and help make history happen?
