Follow on Google News | Will there be Nirvana in the UK this Christmas? The clock is ticking, if you've liked the Page;- it's nearly time to put your money where your mouth was!
By: Sadie-Michaela Harris Since way, way back in the day this has been a much sought after achievement;- In 2009 Jon and Tracy Morter launched a campaign using Social Media sites Facebook and Twitter, their sole aim was to ensure the X-Factor winner was not the UK's Christmas number one in 2009! Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name Of' became the UK's Christmas No. 1 2009, all thanks to the Morters' motivated Social Media campaign. Backed by the real music fans of the UK, sick of the dross turned out by the reality TV show that is the X-Factor! It was an incredible achievement, 'Power to the People' stylee! In this year's run up, we've heard the hocus pocus first hand as Amelia Lily's single was being promoted by HMV online and billed as the X-Factor winner before the competition was over! As is always the case there will be several other contenders, some with more talent, personality and chance than others of becoming the UK's Christmas number 1. Hello magazine online were keen to inform readers "They've won the X Factor, but now the real battle begins for Little Mix. The four piece have their sights set on the Christmas number one, with their single – a version of the Damien Rice hit Canonball. But they must fight off stiff competition from the likes of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and the current bookies favourite, the Military Wives" Pass the bucket please! There are other lesser known contenders, with both talent and personality! Visit http://justgiving.com/ How the heck did that come to be? The Nirvana For Christmas No.1 Facebook Page advises ... "As a 100% supporter of the legendary Rage Against The Machine campaign I felt that it had done its job and gave the X Factor a bloody nose in the process. It was awesome and I felt it wouldn't really need to happen again, yet when I heard about the X Factor dismissing a worthy children's charity (Rhythmix) my blood boiled and we felt that something needed to be done" My finger in the wind test indicates they've huge support, coupled with mischief making know how on their side too in the form of Jon Morter. Jon has been keen that it be known that he's not running the Nirvana For Christmas No.1 campaign, he's been helping over the last few days and has stated, "Just to clarify, yes I've come onboard with the Nirvana For Christmas No.1 campaign as an extra admin. I love Nirvana so would be really chuffed to see it do well."
