Vern's Wood Goods Hosts On-line Auction for Artist Amber Jean

Jan. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- As woodworkers, Vern's Wood Goods seeks inspiration from many sources, which keeps our “creative well” full of fresh ideas.  We have found the work of Montana artist Amber Jean (http://www.amberjean.com) to serve this purpose particularly well, as she does things with wood that continue to challenge the way that we view our craft.

Sadly, last year Amber ran into some serious health issues which have caused significant turmoil in her life.  A football-sized tumor, major surgery, and four months without being able to work have left Amber (who is also a mountain climber) with a new kind of mountain to climb; a big ominous mountain of debt.   Thankfully she is gradually regaining her strength and stamina, and beginning to slowly return to work as her healing body will allow, but even for an artist as successful as Amber, this mountain will take years to conquer and serve as a constant source of limitation and anxiety in the meantime.

Amber has been a giver her entire life, donating her art and her time for many good causes without reservation.  We believe that this time, Amber could use some support.  While she acknowledged this, Amber has been reluctant to accept such support from her friends, colleagues and patrons.  But, after working on her a bit, she has given in and allowed us (and you) to offer some token support.  So, we have created some special items in our workshops  that we are putting up for silent auction, and all money raised will be sent directly to Amber.  (let’s do this quickly before she changes her mind!).   Several of these items are hand carved, which is appropriate because we never owned any carving tools or dreamed of working wood in this way before seeing Amber’s work for the first time eight years ago, and now it has become an area of rewarding exploration.




Here’s how the simple auction works:

- Browse the items on the auction page and hopefully find something that strikes your fancy

- Send an email to info@vernswoodgoods, include the item number and your bid, and/or any questions you may have about the item

- At the end of the auction, we will notify winners and you can either send a check to Amber, pay her via credit card, or use paypal.

- As soon as she receives payment we will ship your item(s).

The auction runs now through January 31st, 2010.  Thanks for joining us in supporting Amber Jean as she heals and gets her mojo back in 2010.  Good luck in the auction!
