By: Elant. Inc. Elant President and CEO Donna G. McAleer officially launched the celebration with a touching toast and a nostalgic glimpse at some of the memorable moments that have occurred during the past two and a half decades. In the audience was one of Elant’s first board members, Sarah Dodd, who is now a resident of Elant at Goshen’s nursing home. Elant, Inc. has been a part of the Hudson Valley healthcare landscape for the past 25 years, and has consistently broken new ground with innovative programming and service development. The network now includes seven campuses and serves an estimated 3,500 people daily across fives counties. Still, its deep community roots began as just a seed of an idea to provide services for the aging that would include a skilled nursing home and continuing care retirement community. As a first step in Elant’s early strategic plan, the Arden Hill Life Care Center (now known as Elant at Goshen), a non-profit 120-bed nursing home, was opened in 1985 next to the Arden Hill Hospital. And grow it did. Over the years the Elant board of directors has pioneered the development of new services and programming for seniors and the chronically ill. In 1986, the organization was the first in the local area to offer an adult day program. In 1995, the Elant at Goshen campus expanded to include two adult day programs and a 120-bed assisted living facility to provide ease for those who may need to transfer between nursing home and assisted living levels of care. That same year, Elant broke ground on Glen Arden, the first approved continuing care retirement community in New York. One year later, to address the growing preference among seniors to receive their care at home, Elant introduced Elant Choice, a managed long-term care plan which provides nursing home level of care in the home setting. Elant’s most recent expansion of services includes the Elant Medical Practice, launched in May 2009. The Elant Medical Practice offers Elant’s residents more consistent, coordinated, and accessible medical care than ever before through their own employed staff of physicians and nurse practitioners. Today, Elant provides the full continuum of care for seniors. Its services include sub-acute care and rehabilitation services, nursing home care, assisted living, adult day care, retirement community living, home health care, and a managed long-term care plan. “I look forward to the next 25 years, and anticipate continued innovation and dedication to the communities we serve,” McAleer said. The 25th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the Elant network all year long with a full calendar of events to honor the network’s history and community impact. # # # Elant: Elant, Inc., a community-based, not-for-profit organization, is a leading provider of services for older adults and chronically ill people of all ages.
