Elant At Fishkill & Elant At Wappingers Falls Raise $2,500 For Their Residents

Feb. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Beacon – Elant at Fishkill’s “Winter Beach Bash” at Chill Wine Bar in Beacon last week was a huge success!

The event, complete with palm trees and tiki torches, raised roughly $2,500. The money will benefit the Elant at Fishkill & Wappingers Falls Renewal Committee, which works to raise funds to support resident programs and activities.

“It was a wonderful evening that included a strong showing from the community; I was also warmed by the number of Elant staff members who came from other Elant campuses to support the fundraising efforts of our Dutchess campuses,” said Joseph Minuta, vice-chairman of the Elant Foundation Board of Directors. “The strong attendance coupled with the money raised should act as an indicator that the economic climate hasn’t crippled individual and corporate values of community giving to quality community-based not-for-profits and those in need.”

The event drew almost 100 people who enjoyed wine, cheese, and a silent auction that featured a myriad of items donated by local business owners.

Some of those items included a Tory Burch designer purse, an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Fishkill, a glass ornament and glass blowing lessons from Hudson Beach Glass, a limited edition watercolor entitled “Fishkill in the 60’s” by local artist Daisy De Puthod, a pasta & vino wine tour, a Swedish massage from River View Spa, a Mid-Hudson McCann Ice Arena Skating Package (30 passes for ice skating), gift certificates (Nonna Concetta, Chill Wine Bar, Leo’s, River Terrace, Rosanna’s Hair Salon, and Davide Salon), Bethel Woods lawn tickets, a Lotto ticket basket, a gift basket and cooking lessons from Mountain Restaurant Supply, and two wine baskets donated by the Fishkill Rotary Club.

“The local business community was so generous and we are so grateful for the contributions that were made,” said Pat Usifer, Activities director for both Elant at Wappingers Falls and Elant at Newburgh. “More importantly, none of this would happen without our caring and committed renewal committee.”

This is the second time the Elant at Fishkill & Wappingers Falls Renewal Committee has hosted a fund-raising event at Chill. In July, dozens of people attended a “Christmas in July”-themed event that helped raise just over $2,000.
