Baltimore Fashion Week returns for third production year

Feb. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Butterfly Productions, LLC , producers of Baltimore’s annual high fashion runway event, Baltimore Fashion Week, is entering into its third year of providing professional-level exposure to independent designers who showcase "rack ready" fashions for the masses.

Created to celebrate the collective talents of artists and designers, Baltimore Fashion Week prides itself in bringing members of the fashion and arts community together. Baltimore Fashion Week aims to create a vibrant fashion community where designers can thrive, by providing a showcase of one-of-a-kind fashions and continuing to support the rise of this creative class.

2010 Baltimore Fashion Week is scheduled for Monday, August 9, 2010 through Friday, August 13, 2010. With the event over six months away, Butterfly Productions creative team has been hard at work on this event since the conclusion of the 2009 event.

As quoted in the December 2009 edition of Baltimore Magazine, “it may not be Bryant Park but it’s ours” you don’t have to get on the train to see great fashions, now Baltimore City residents can stay home.

“Producing an event of this magnitude is similar to planning a wedding,” says Sharan Nixon, CEO of Butterfly Productions. “You cannot wait until the last minute to start working on the details. Honestly, we work on dual years simultaneously. For example, although we are finalizing details for our 2010 event, we already have the theme and production idea for 2011.” Nixon adds, “With additional team member for this year’s event, my position and responsibilities related to this event are easier to manage, though they are still complex and at times overwhelming. But I continue to press forward for Baltimore. Baltimore Fashion Week will be full of surprises and our guests will be in awe by our runway production this year.”

Baltimore Fashion Week’s 2010 event schedule continues to grow. “We are pleased to already have several events scheduled,” says Maria Roberts, Baltimore Fashion Week’s PR/Media Director. All I can say is that people will need to keep their calendar, iPhone or  Blackberry near at all times.:

•   February 21, 2010 – Designer Meeting for Baltimore Fashion Week
•   March 13, 2010 – Model Audition (District of Columbia location)
•   March 31, 2010 – Deadline for Designer Registration
•   April 18, 2010 – Model Audition (Maryland location)
•   June 12, 2010 – Designer Fitting
•   June 26, 2010 – Final Designer fitting
•   June 26, 2010 – Crab Feast & Bull Roast
•   July 17, 2010 – “THE INSTALLATION” – A Sneak Preview of The Designer’s Collection Party
•   August 9 – 13, 2010 – Baltimore Fashion Week 2010

Also, this year outside of an already exciting event schedule are two more key features that play a huge part in this year's production.  

New to Baltimore Fashion Week is a newly implemented scholarship program, appropriately called the Baltimore Fashion Week Design Scholarship Award. Ten students will be awarded scholarship funds to use toward their academic training for a career in fashion. Last but surely not least is the Sexy Aquatic Designer Competition, which coincides with and is named after the closing runway presentation for Baltimore Fashion Week’s opening night, scheduled for Monday, August 9, 2010 and is the Butterfly Productions, LLC’s version of the Victoria Secret Lingerie fashion show, but with a Baltimore spin.  With this competition 20 designers will be selected to create a cover-up for the models to wear over their lingerie which will be worn during this runway segment.  The lingerie is being provided by Sweet & Sexy.  This runway event might even make Heidi smile. The top three designers along with their models will receive a complimentary photo-shoot compliments of Jazzy Studios.  The winning designer and their model will each receive $200.00 and a round trip ticket to New York City for the day.

Baltimore Fashion Week 2010 tickets will be available on its official website or via U.S. Mail starting April 15, 2010.
