Blythedale Children’s Hospital to Sponsor Brain Injury Symposium on Feb. 23rd

Feb. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- VALHALLA, NY  – Blythedale Children’s Hospital and the New York Regional Chapter of the Society of Pediatric Nurses will sponsor a brain injury symposium at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla on Tuesday, February 23rd.

The conference, which will begin at 7:30 a.m., will feature distinguished faculty and staff from both hospitals and will provide a comprehensive review of the incidence of brain injury, pathophysiology of injury to the brain, acute treatment and interventions, and the critical aspects of team rehabilitation. Case studies will be used to highlight the differences between, and the treatment of, diffuse and localized brain injuries.  Attendees will receive important information on providing care to brain-injured children.

“More than 1.5 million brain injuries occur annually in the United States. Our goal for this conference is to provide education about the broad spectrum of brain injuries, as well as information about equipment that can be used in the rehabilitation process,” said Colleen Booth, Director of Education at Blythedale Children’s Hospital.
