Follow on Google News | ![]() CU Community Day & Thornbury 5K/10K RaceCheyney University will host its Third Annual Community Day on Saturday, March 27th from 10AM to 2PM in conjunction with the First Annual Thornbury 5K/10K race on the university's main campus located in southeastern Pennsylvania.
By: Office of the President This year, Cheyney University will hold its community event in conjunction with the First Annual Thornbury 5K/10K race. Registration for the race begins at 7:30AM and the race will kicks off at 9AM. This is an out and back race starting and ending on the University's main campus. The route will be measured and clearly marked with course marshals to guide the way. More information regarding the race may be found at www.runccrs.com. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Delaware Valley Lion's Club. Lions Club International is the largest service club organization in the world with over 1.3 million members worldwide. The Delaware Valley Chapter is just one of over 45,000. Lions Clubs have traditionally focused on providing a helping hand to the blind and visually impaired as well as helping others in the community facing hardship. The Delaware Valley Chapter also helps Thornbury Township by handling concessions at some Thornbury Park events such as Memorial Day and Independence Day. There will also be children's races on the University's track and field. Coupled with the CU Community Day activities, the event promises to be a fun-filled family affair. Highlights of the day include a mini-health fair, petting zoo, face painting, student art exhibit, theatrical performances, and much more.
