Finding the Best In-Home Care in Orange County

Karen Fazio is not just the owner of Right at Home Central Orange County, she's also practiced for over 18 years as a holistic therapist. Her experience and compassion sets her apart, and she makes a sincere difference to her clients.

March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- “The problem that most people face when choosing in-home care is not knowing where to turn or who to trust," Karen Fazio acknowledges. "It can be very hard to let a new person, even if it’s a caregiver, into your home.”
Since 1995, Right at Home In-Home Care and Assistance has been providing care to older adults and disabled persons. In 2007, Karen Fazio opened a Right at Home office to better serve the Orange County area. Karen’s office is committed to providing compassionate care that is both dependable and of the highest quality. Karen and her staff hand-picks reliable, empathetic and dedicated caregivers to assist with a wide range of duties for the care of home-bound people.
Dedicated to meeting each client and their family in person, Karen handles every client assessment and interview personally to ensure that each client is matched with an appropriate caregiver and level of care. Many of the caregivers on staff have been with Karen’s branch of Right at Home from day one, and additional staff from nursing schools is recruited constantly, including certified LVNs and nursing assistants.
Karen’s experience with caregiving started long before 2007; after graduating from the Mueller College of Holistic Studies in 1990, Karen opened a practice for holistic health.  In addition to teaching stress reduction meditation, Reiki and supporting individuals facing life-threatening illnesses, Karen found her niche providing massage therapy at assisted-living facilities and nursing homes. Over the years, she became a resource for many people, and their families, as they entered end-of-life care and was present as they passed. Karen soon realized that she felt honored to be part of this process. “I feel that it’s a meaningful experience,” Karen describes. “And especially rewarding to able to help the family members deal with their feelings of grief and loss.”
When her own parents became ill, Karen drew on her years of holistic practice and cared for them even after they were moved to hospice. This experience prompted Karen to finish her undergraduate degree in Human Services, with an emphasis in Gerontology. Karen received her bachelor’s degree from the College of Health and Human Services at the California State University, Fullerton, and in doing so gained insight and skills that are invaluable for her Right at Home clients. Her studies covered topics such as the relationship between physical activity and aging in order for people to “age successfully” and the issues that older adults have to face, including financial aspects and the loss of partners, friends and physical ability. These changes can be difficult for people, and in-home assistance can play a key part in relieving the anxiety of the homebound.
Karen looks forward to starting her master’s degree in Gerontology in the fall of 2010, not just because it will broaden her knowledge of aging and older adults, it will also enable her, and her Right at Home staff, to help clients on a deeper level.
What Karen and her team at Right at Home find so satisfying about their work is that they are able to be part of making a difficult situation easier and enhancing the quality of life.
“People ask me: ‘Can you help?’ And I love saying ‘Yes, I can’.”
