March 25, 2010 - PRLog -- March 2010 marks the launch of “The 3rdi Magazine”.

The3rdi is the UK’s first online journal dedicated to women in business.

The name “The 3rdi” comes from that extra “intuition” that women have; their intrinsic ability to empathise, communicate, share, spread their ideas and “network.”

“Our aim is to challenge the norm, to encourage our readers to think and act. Intelligence is too readily associated with tests and measurement; typical in a male-oriented business world but we feel that intelligence is far wider reaching. Business intelligence, market intelligence, social intelligence, relationship intelligence, communication intelligence, emotional intelligence are not the sole domain of the male ego,” explains co-founder Karen Birch.

More women are reaching higher positions in corporate and business organisations, are setting themselves up as business owners, coaches and entrepreneurs and are forming supportive networks and groups.

The 3rdi is the first magazine and resource to support these growing networks and to promote the “female” way of doing business.

It has been launched by a brother and sister team of serial entrepreneurs; Karen and Phil Birch.

Karen Birch started life in the medical industry and was a board member of a multi-national pharmaceutical company by age of 29. Leaving corporate life behind she established a highly successful marketing agency to cater for the needs of the emerging biotechnology sector; most notably being involved from the first with PPL Therapeutics of Dolly the Sheep fame.

In the early 90’s Karen spotted the potential of the Internet and launched an on-line retail business. This company became Scotland's leading Internet retailer, selling Scottish goods world-wide and winning many awards along the way!

In 2006, having made her money, Karen decided to retire in order to concentrate on her artwork and she now sells her work in galleries across the country.
Phil has over 20 years senior commercial and financial management experience within the heavy engineering and IT/Telecoms industries and for the last 6 years has operated as independent Business Consultant and Coach.

Phil has established and operated several independent SME business enterprises. These include a pioneering Graphic Design agency, in the early 1990’s, and an online Health and Nutrition business.

He’s currently writing his first book which is a collection of the stories and experiences he has collected as the well known blogger Pablo Funky. The blog, which has 1000s of readers, is a journal of his experiences following Deepak Chopra's The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.

“I have no issues whatsoever in stating that we’re primarily a journal for women - women ARE more intuitive. In my business experience it’s important to value this intuition and I hope The3rdi encourages more women to take advantage of their "sixth-sense",” explains Phil.

Every month a range of experts and regular columnists contribute to the magazine on a variety of subjects covering business, lifestyle, self development, family and contribution (charity and volunteering).

“We are an ethically-driven team of professionals, with the united goal of passing on our knowledge, experience and, hopefully, wisdom to our readers. We hope that they will benefit from this information and use it to make their own business and private lives as rewarding as possible,” said Managing Editor Karen Birch.

The 3rdi is there to inspire its readers; it’s not a marketplace or networking site. It’s a magazine with high editorial standards using new technology and the Internet to deliver its content.

The magazine has been beta-testing for the last six months and officially goes live this month at www.the3rdi.co.uk

The regular publication date is the first Monday of each month.
