13CABS Driving Community Support for Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal

March 28, 2010 - PRLog -- For the past 14 years 13CABS has been a driving force in rallying community support for a revered Melbourne institution – the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The Victorian community responds by galvanising around the annual charity event to open their hearts and wallets for this great cause.

In 2009 13CABS contributed to a record-breaking total of more than $13 million donated by Victorians to provide treatment for children with life threatening illnesses. The iconic Melbourne cab company has donated over $126,000 in total to the Good Friday Appeal and champions the cause at every opportunity.

This year Melbourne’s largest cab company aims to trump its 2009 contribution of more than $14,000 looking to build upon an initial $10,000 pledge by donating $1 from every booked cab on Good Friday. 13CABS estimates its 2010 contribution to the Good Friday Appeal could be as high as $16,000.

“13CABS’ involvement in the local community extends far beyond our day to day interaction with passengers. We’re proud to be a part of this event and of 13CABS’ ongoing commitment to support the Good Friday Appeal and what it stands for. We’d like to see all Melburnians from the business and local communities get on board and do the same,” said Simon Purssey, 13CABS Client Services Manager.

A highlight of 13CABS’ contribution is at the Kids Big Day Out when children’s faces light up as they set eyes on the antique 1923 Chicago Yellow Cab, in all its former glory, and clamour for a turn to blow the car’s horn.

Those wanting to tap into their own sense of adventure should be at the Etihad Stadium for the Kids Big Day Out between 10am - 4pm on Good Friday 2 April 2010.
